LOCAL BODY MEETINGS
ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, presided at a meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council last night, there were also present: Messrs. S. Telia, H. Campling, J. Mongton G. A. McKendriek, P. B. Lipscombe, W.C: Hill, T. H. Geraghty, F. W. Mountioy, and A. C. Tonkin. Esplanade Br east work.-The council accepted the offer of the extractors to construct, the Esplanade breastwork at £7 17/6 per ehaia. . JeUicoe Park.-Dealing with the foreman's Sort on the work to be done in connection, with the relief or returned soldiers, it was decided to complete the footBaths in Jellicoe Park, and spend the rest cl themoney on the Selwyn Street ootpath, between Princes Street and Church street. The Public Works Department advised that no subsidy would be forthC °SSh F?rmed k by Residents.-The foreman was instructed to supply the labour for spreading scoria on the rootpatii in Pleasant Street recently tormed by tae residents. Mr. Ball reported that the ]ayin* of water mams m Pleasant Street had y been completed, at a cost of about .too. Arapuni: Stoppage.-The Auckland Electric Power Board asked the council to assist it by reducing pumping operations between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. It was decided to co-operate as suggested. ■_"_,. W-EJl"—The council donated £o 5/ to the Workers' Educational Association. _ Competition In Fish—A nrrn o£ solicitors sought the assistance of the council in protecting their client, a ratepaper, who keeps a shop, against the competition of a hawker who has his stand nearby, but the council decided that this would be impossible. ' _ _ Electrical Eaticulation.—The Power Board sent a copy of a report showing those areas not reticulated, so that it could be seen where further extensions could be made, in order that local bodies could give information to prospective consumers in their territory.
