TIVOLI THEATRE,
A double feature programme of talking pictures is being presented at the Tivoli Theatre. "The Lady Lies" and "Let's Go Places" are the feature films. The latter was on at the Civic Theatre and concerns the attempts of a singer to get recognition at Hollywood. He achieves success through an energetic Press agent. There is much comedy and some good singing. The supporting programme contains interesting featurettes. LONDON THEATRE. "High Treason," the British picture at the London Theatre, continues to attract large audiences. This film is entirely different from' the ordinary screen story. It is a romance of the future, depicting the United States of Europe in conflict with the United States of America. Great buildings are bombarded from the air, and all the horrors of war are displayed. There is a moral in the story—the futility of war. The supporting featurettes are highly interesting. BRITANNIA THEATRE. At the Britannia Theatre, Ponsonby, the main screen offering is "Barnum Was Right." This features GlenTryon, one of the most capable .comedians of the screen. He is always humorous, and keeps in audience in roars of laughter throughout the performance. A second feature is "Salute," with George O'Brien in the leading role. The supporting programme has been carefully selected.
