VICE-REGAL.

The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, paid a visit to the Auckland Grammar Schodl yesterday. Lord 'and Lady Bledisloe were present at the annual luncheon of the King's Empire Veterans in the Town Hall to-day, and in the afternoon attended the Auckland Bacino- Club's winter meeting at Ellerslie. A° ball will be held at Government House this evening in honour of the King's birthday. His Excellency will visit the St. James' Theatre on Thursday evening to witness the screening of "Disraeli."

Owing to the greyness of the weather and the tang of winter in the air,.a large number of very smart tweeds and luxurious fur coats were to be seen at Ellerslie to-day for the first day of the winter meeting of the' Auckland Racing Club.
