KING'S JEST'S GREAT NORTHERN HURDLES
DUNEDIN AND OTAKI FIXTURES.—TROTTING
AT ADDINGTON.
All roads led to Ellerslie to-day, for nothing appeals to the racing public like a steeplechase meeting, and the Great Northern events at the Auckland Racing Club's beautiful course have become milestones in the history of winter racing in New Zealand. The chief event for decision was the Great Northern Hurdle Race, in which some good performances have been registered in the past, those of St. Simon (12.12) and Liberator (12.9) standing out. The Great Northern Steeplechase will be decided on Thursday. The Dunedin Jockey winter fixture was continued at Wingatui, while the C :i-Maori Racing Club's winter meeting at Otaki was opened. At Addington the final day of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's meeting was held.
