PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.

The Papakura Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mrs. Jas. MeCall, presiding. Scenic Reserve.—The Commissioned of Crown Lands wrote regarding the addition to Kirk's Bush scenic reserve, and advised that £100 was now available to assist in the drainage of the bush. The foreman of the town board is now taking the levels. The finance committee recommended that the following rates for 1930-31 be struck:—General,. 59-6 M; Great South Road, 36-64 d; road .loan, 11-64 d; water loan, 57-64 d; street lighting, 9-64 d; hospital and charitable aid rate, 20-64 d, making a total of 3d, a reduction of The board unanimously approved the recommendation. The main work'during the last fortnight, as reported by • the foreman, was the laying of-the pipes along the Wairoa Road. The foreman recommended that the pipes should be'extended about another 100 ft. The drain at the termination of the present work was very deep and would continue to be so deep as to be a source of danger for the 100 ft before mentioned. The board decided to pipe another 44ft, thereby taking the drain to a crossing outside Mr. Henderson's property.
