SOLDIER SAYS "HANDS OFF ANZAC DAY." . EAST COAST OPPOSITION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, Sunday. ' The suggestion by students .of Victoria University College, Wellington, that Apzad Day should be abolished, was referred to at a reunion of returned soldiers at Tologa Bay, by LieutenantColonel Garabrill, of Gisborne. "We all know these University students," said Lieutenant-Colonel Gambrill. "They like to make put they aro 20 or 30 years ahead of the community in thought and things, and they blow off a tremendous lot of hot air. They eventually come to earth and become quite respectable citizens, but they have got to keep theid hands off Anzac Day." ; The speaker said New Zealand did not have a great deal of tradition beyond the tradition of the British Empire. Anzac Day meant a great deal to all, and if they must dispense with some day, let them do without some other day, but not Anzac Day.
