INTER-ISLAND GAME.
COUNCIL DELIBERATIONS,
The committee appointed for the final selection of the New Zealand team was Messrs. W. Murray (official selector), A. Ferguson, 0. E. Carlaw (representing the council), E. K. Asher (North Island) and J. K. Worrall (South Island). The other South Island names submitted to ballot were those of Messrs. E. Watson (Otago) and W. J. Mitchell. Mr. Worrall was also appointed manager of the South Island team, which will play North Island at Auckland on June 14. The players committee was deputed to report on the question of number of players to be selected for the tour of Australia. The same committee, on the favourable recommendation of the council, is to consider the staging of a cur-tain-raiser to the inter-island match to consist of two teams of Auckland, North and South Auckland players, for which thirty players are to be selected. The emergencies of the North and South Island teams will take part in this match, which will also be under selectorial scrutiny. This, it is considered, would be better thaii staging a Wednesday trial after the North and South match. The council also insists on final approval of the New Zealand team before the personel is released for publication.
