ONEHUNGA ORPHANS.
MR. K. G. SPEIGHT PRESIDENT.
The annual meeting of the Onehunga Orphans' Club was held in the Orphans' Hall on Saturday night. Bro. R. G. Speight presided.
The secretary, Bro. C. A. Osborne, reported a successful session of ten meetings. The membership, he said, had decreased from 145 to 130, and the income had exceeded expenditure by £11 1/11. The assets amounted to £304 10/8, and there were no liabilities. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
A special vote of thanks was accorded to the acting president, Bro. K. Buchanan, for his generous donations during the season, and to Mrs. Buchanan for donations towards the children's night. The election of officers resulted as follows :— Patron, Sir F. W. Lang, M.L.C.; president, Bro. R. G. Speight;, vice-presi-dents, Bros. E. V. Sutherland, J. E. Green, E. Marks, T. S. Bassett, E. Morton, J. Kennedy Boss, and L. Bray; committee, Bros. T. J. Wathew, W. Lovering, G. Criohton, G. H. Bray, S. Brown, A. Brain, T. C. Turnbull and C. P. Milnes; stewards, Bros. W. J. Tegg (chief), W. Bond, W. H. Wilkinson, W. Vaughan, S. Vella, F. Farnsworth, A. Jeffs, T. H. McKeever, G. H. Keeling; conductor, Bro. J. Lighten; accompanist, Bro. L. Elliott; secretary, Bro. C. A. Osborne; treasurer, Bro. D. H. Kirk-Jones; auditor, Bro. S. Vella; programme steward, Bro. E. Marks. Saturday, May 24, was fixed upon as the opening night.
