MRS. MARIA KELLOW.
The death of Mrs. Maria Kellow, widow of the late Mr. G. S. M. Kellow, occurred at the residence of lier son-in-law, Mr. G. P. Robson, Ngaruawahia, this week. Mrs. Kellow was born in Yorkshire 80 years ago and came to New Zealand in the early 'sixties in the ship Ernestina with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kay. After their arrival the family took up residence at Thames, where Mr. Kay erected the first battery for Hunt's Shotover mine. At Thames Miss Kay married Mr. Kellow, paymaster-sergeant to the forces at Ngaruawahia. To reach Ngaruawahia it was necessary to travel from Mercer by steamer, for the Main Trunk line was at that time only exas far as Mercer. The death of Mrs. Kellow marks the passing of one of Ngaruawahia's oldest residents. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. White, of _ Raglan. Mrs. Robson, of Ngaruawahia, Mrs. Looman, of Taupiri, and Mrs. Carson, of Ponsonby, and four sons, Messrs. A. and R. Kellow, of Ruakiwi, Mr. G. Kellow, of Te Akau, and Mr. E. Kellow, also of Ruakiwi. There are 33 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. c
