NEW HOSPITAL BLOCK.
EXPANSION AT PALMERSTON. OPENED BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LEVIN, Friday. After a heavy morning's work at Wellington, the Minister of Health (the Hon. A. J. Stall worthy) opened the new Wilson Memorial Block at Palmerston North this afternoon. The new two-storey block provides an additional 46 beds, increasing the total accommodation of the hospital from 247 beds to 293, making it in this respect the sixth largest general hospital in the Dominion. With the Otaki Hospital it will provide an aggregate of 305 beds for the district. The cost of the new block is understood to be just under £19,000.
