"SAVER" ON ANOTHER.
Harrv Owens, the popular breederowner. of Bathurst, "was showered wi congratulations, both in town and conntrv, when the news came through that liis appeal had been upheld by " Western Districts Trotting Association (savs the Melbourne "Trotting Record ). Mr. Owens had weathered forty years as breeder, owner and racer of trotting horses without the breath of suspicion attaching itself to him, and those wo know him best felt satisfied a mistake had been made somewhere. On tnc evidence it would appear Mr. wens offence consisted of backing a h° rse tlie same race as his own, which e backed, and won the race. If every trotting owner who lias put a "saver' on a horse which he thinks mi n beat his horse, which he has packed, iii a race, there would be mighty few ou o. trouble. As a matter of fact, Mr. had good cause to- put a saver on tttc other horse, which he had raced and omy recently sold, knowing it to be a 0 one.
