DOUBLE BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A delightful dance was given at "Symondsville," Symonds Street, last evening by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Messer and Mr. and Mrs. E. Haresnape to celebrate the coming of age of their daughters, Miss Bessie Messer and Miss Rita Haresnape. The hall looked most attractive with swinging Japanese lights, streamers and greenery, and on the tables in the supper room were beautiful blooms of golden and bronze chrysanthemums and other autumn shaded flowers. Spirited music was supplied for dancing, and the coolness of the night being most conducive to this pastime things went with a decided swing. A Monte Carlo novelty dance was held, and charming interludes during the evening were songs given by Miss Berta Carr and Miss Sybil Phillips. At supper time, after the toasts were honoured, the two young guests of honour were each presented with a large golden key. On arrival, the guests were received in the entrance hall by the hosts and hostesses. Mrs. Messer wore a frock of black embossed georgette, relieved with trimmings of deep cyclamen. Mrs. Haresnape was in draped black georgette. Misses Bessie Messer and Rita Haresnape wore frocks alike of white chenille and tulle. The corsage of chenille was tight-litting, and the tulle frills of the skirt were fluted with narrow white satin ribbon. ! They both carried tight little Victorian posies.
