FIRE LOSS REDUCED.
POSITION AT PAPATOETOE,
The eecond annual meeting of the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade was held last evening. Captain G. J. Bradley, .superintendent, presided, supported by Mr. J. Franklin, chairman of the fire brigade committee. The superintendent's report showed that twelve calls had been received during the year, six being in the town area. The property involved was valued at £3070, the loss was £1973, and the amount saved was £1095. The fire lose had been reduced from £3 6/8 to 16/ss.
Office-bearers were elected as follows: Superintendent, Mr. G. Short; deputy, Mr. A. Gulland; first foreman, Mr. F. Knight; second, Mr. P. Pennell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Mcßeth; executive committee, Messrs. A. Eustace, R. S. Brooke and R. McKenzie.
Captain Bradley, who organised the brigade, was elected the first hon. life member.
