TE AROHA JOTTINGS.

TAURIMU SHAPING. WELL. ® Trainer G. A, Reid will take some of hia charges to the Egmont and Wanganni meetings. Mr. Irwin Hunt's Town Bird has been acquitting himself satisfactorily in his schooling work over the fences and is nominated for the Kaitoke and Rata Hurdles at Wangamii. Town Bird races well on the course and may show up prominently. Gold Day made a satisfactory recovery from the set back he sustained at Te Rapa, hence Mr. D. Jackson's decision to send him to compete at the Avondale meeting. Mr. K. B. Hines' King Win is growing into a fine strong colt, and after he has been well wintered should be ready to race early in the spring. He promises to be big enough to carry weight well. Taurimu has been shaping well in the light work allotted him and his next outing may probably be at Taumarunui this month. The members of A. E. Cox's team are all looking well, especially Glenison and Miss Albyn. . It is probable that Lady Meston, by rolymestor, owned by Mr. R. Hines, will not be raced again but will be retired to the stud. The same owner has the Chrysolaus filly Elope. She is somewhat on the small side and unless she grows considerably will not be required to race. The Lucullus -Picture filly Art Gallery, will be one of the active brigade after she has been wintered. While G. Reid is away from Te Aroha the Shambles and Lapidary fillies are being well cared for and both will be ready for training tasks any time the mentor thinks fit. In the matter of appearance they should be valuable additions to the local thoroughbred racing stock. The Marble Arch mare Dainty Arch is still running out, but as her owner would not have any difficulty, in selling her, she is very likely to be among the track workers again in the near future.
