HOWICK AFFAIRS.
The financial position of the Howick Town Board was- last night presented in the report prepared by the town clerk, Mr. V. L. Bagnall. The report showed a credit balance in hand at the present time of £00 1/8. The engineer, in a letter to the board, explained that the Highways Board would not subsidise earthworks on the detour road around Stockade Hill and it was decided to instruct the board's contractors to commence work immediately. In connection with the water supply system it was decided to leave connections in the mains passing through the county for consumers in the future. The Gin and sin pipes were on the ground and tenders were being called for the work of laying them.
