BEER MEASURES.

A number of us have been talking for months back about "handles" in the public bar. Beer is sixpence per imperial pint, and the "handle" is a long way from being one imperial pint. The same applies to the "half-handle." As far as we can see, it is a gold mine for the publican, as he saves enough beer from about three "handles" to make another which costs him nothing, not even the duty, as 'I expect he pays duty on the imperial pint supplied to him. As far as I understand, in.the Old Country a man must get a glass stamped with the imperial measure. Then the worker and the Government both get what they are entitled to get. The publican is also compelled at Home to fill the glass to the top. I think it is time the public bars were compelled to stock a plentiful supply of imperial pint measures, also imperial half-pints.
