DEVONPORT'S FERRY SERVICE
? RUSH-HOUR TIME-TABLE. MOVE FOR IMPROVEMENT. At last evening's meeting of the ' Devonport Borough Council there was ' received a deputation from the W aite- ' inata Chamber of Commerce which ' expressed very decidcd opinions as to ' the necessity of improving the tune- : table of the Devonport ferries, particularly between the hours of 4.J0 and 0 p.m. Mr S E. Kennings, president of the ' chamber', deplored the congestion on the ' boats which travelled between the hours mentioned. He suggested the substitution of a 15-minute service instead ol ' a 20-minutc time-table- as at present ■' This would mean two more trips within ' tho rush hours, and would greatly increase the facilities of the travelling ' public. This adjustment of the lorry time-table would also improve tho bus 60 Tho C council decided to co-operate with the chamber and four members Messrs. J. Hislop, C. M. Browne, i. J. 11. Ellis- ' don and F. T. Eyre were appointed to •confer with a committee from the Chamber of Commerce and to report back to *tho council/when joint action would he taken in approaching the lerry Comm
