EMPIRE GAMES.
ATHLETES NOMINATED. DOUBT ABOUT GETTING FUNDS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the request of the council of the New Zealand A.A.A., Wellington Centre at its meeting last night nominated P. Munro (discus), V. S. Ramson (hurdles) and A. Hill (walking) for the New Zealand team to take part in the forthcoming British Empire games. "I think I can go as manager," said Mr. Kitto, the chairman, amid laughter. "In nominating anyone," he continued, "it must be taken for granted that they have a reasonable and fair chance of success." "Where is the money coming from if we do send athletes?" he asked. Mr. D. Paris: I don't think there will be any money, but it is an honour to be nominated. It was stated that other bodies had allocated theix share to the rowing eight, and £1000 had been raised, while another £800 would be required for that purpose. Mr. J. O'Sullivan: If any athletes go the money will have to be found for them. The chairman said he thought Eamson and Hill were both likely to improve.
