REAR-ADMIRAL BYRD.
VISIT TO WELLINGTON. FLOOD OF INVITATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Rear-Admiral Byrd readied Wellington from the South this morning and is spending the day in making calls on Government and local bodies which have given his expedition assistance. So many invitations have been received from Wellington organisations that Admiral Byrd is unable to do more than suggest a joint gathering which he can address. He will be the guest of the Government at a State luncheon on Wednesday, and leave on Thursday for Rotorua, where he will spend several days. He is unable to visit Auckland, as upon his return from Rotorua he intends to revisit Dunedin to clear up finally business connected with, the expedition prior to his departure by the Rangitiki for Panama on April 20.
