CROSSING TRAGEDY.
FUNERAL AT HIKURANGI. ALL MINES CEASE WORK. INJURED LAD'S CONDITION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANG AREI, this day. With signs of the deepest mourning the funeral of the four young men of Hikurangi, who were killed in the level crossing tragedy on Saturday evening, moved off from the centre of Hikurangi early this afternoon for the Kauri cemetery. The body of Miss Flora Edna Wilson was taken" to Auckland, while the sixth victim, Miss Irene Darwen, hailed from Matamata. All miners ceased -work at 11.30 last night, and will not resume until tonight, the Miners' Union having taken charge of the arrangements for the burial of the four young men. The condition of the lad Philip ■Sparks, who was most gravely injured, is still serious, but so far he has held his own. The other patients are making good progress.
