; TRIBUTE TO A YOUNG NEW ZEALAMJBB I (To the Editor.) \ ' This evening I had the pleasure of witness I ■ ing a flight over Whakatane of a locallv-built airplane controlled by the young builder T • have witnessed many flight at various times ■ in England and France, but I think this on ; thrilled me most, for I recognised the pluck - of the young pilot in flying five thousand feet • up in a 'plane built in his backyard in hi* spare time and at the cost of his savings. Do s not you think this young chap's efforts are > worth recognition from this country's people ' through our Government? A fe\y more lfk P him and we could abolish our "Foot Staggers" and artillerymen and concentrate on the Air Force as our main means of defence. 4 BAR Whakatane, April 2.
