PRESENTS FROM JAPAN.
TO-DAY'S ROTARY MEETING. MANY VISITORS ATTEND. There was an international flavour about the weekly lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club held yesterday in the Lewis Eady Hall, for the visitors included Rotarians from many other countries. Besides the Japanese delegates, who were present at the National Park conference, to-day's visitors included the following:—Sir Richard Winfrey (Petersboro'), Otto J. Hanson (Santa Monica, California), J. W. Thompson (Winnipeg), Elgin Stoddard (San Francisco), E. P. Hohlman (Chicago), W. C. McGonagle (Honolulu), H. J. Guthrie (Dunedin), A. I. Fleming (Gore), W. E. Jackson, C. J. B. Norwood and S. A. Longuet (Wellington), P. R. Sargood (Dunedin), J. J. Mathers (Suva), A. H. Gaze (Melbourne), D. Patterson (Oamaru), A. M. Taylor (Timaru) and L. Pickering (Napier). Opportunity was made by the Japanese delegation to present to the Auckland Club a very handsome silver RotArian wheel, mounted on a beautifully polished wooden shield. Another gift was an address in Japanese characters, very tastefully executed and enclosed in a circular frame. Besides these ( were several small tokens emblematic of friendship. After these had been accepted on behalf of the club by the chairman, Rotarian J. A. Gentles, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Yozo Nomura, addressed the club on the general aspect of Rotary and with particular reference to international peace. Mr Manson (Honolulu) also spoke briefly, after which Mr. Geo. Hutchison expressed to the visitors the _ pleasure local Rotarians had had in meeting them, and conveying best wishes for the future.
