MUSICAL REVIVAL.
SHARE IN BROADCASTS. A SERIOUS ATTEMPT* 1« MOVE M WELLINGTON, IB — ; ~.fl (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent*}] % WELLINGTON, this day. Comment by musical authorities yrhd have been present at rehearsals of the new Wellington. Philharmonic Orchestra suggests that a serious attempt ia being made to bring about a revival in music. After the rehearsal last evening the conductor, Mr. John Bishop, remarked that the combination of nearly 70 musicians was more than fulfilling its early pro* rnise; Most of the players are ex-theatre musicians, and the massed effect is im» pressive. There has lately been some demand for a radio broadcast of programmes by the larger American orchestras, and it is stated that the Wellington organisation will present a- pro* gramme ■ which" will make an emphatic! appeal to a section of the community which has been temporarily attracted to more or less .mechanical harmonies through the lack of a proper assembly of the talent in its midst.
