WAR NURSE DEAD.

SISTER McGREGOR. SERVED ON THE MARAMA. 'By Telegraph—t)wh Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mrs. Katherine Peek, who, as Sister McGregor, had ovor four years' active service, and was mentioned in dispatches, is dead. Sister McGregor served on the New Zealand hospital ship Marama. The ship left Wellington on December 4, 1915, and for eleven months the staff had a strenuous time in the Mediterranean and on th 6 cross-Channel run between Southampton and France. Sister McGregor's ward was in the lower part of the ship, where it was impossible to open the portholes. At times the- wounds of some of the men, especially of German prisoners, were septic, and the work of nursing was trying. Sister McGregor never complained, but carried on during the long hours of duty with a bright spirit, bringing cheer and hope as well as physical healing to the men. At times, when the ship was crowded, the staff worked 24 hours without a break.
