N.S.W. RAILWAYS.
Legislation 'to Revert to 48-Houi* Week. BIG SAVING TO STATE. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The State Government will probably introduce legislation this session to revert to the 48-hour week in the railway service. The law at present provides for 44 hours. Tho change would render possible savings to the extent of £000,000 annually and a reduction of 2000 in staffs, but retrenchment in this direction is not contemplated, a system of rationing the work being suggested.
