LOAN PROPOSALS.
NEW LYNN BOROUGH.
CONCRETING TITIRANGI ROAD EXTENSIONS TO WAT: T SCHEME. At a special meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council last evening it was decided to apply to the Local Government- Loans Board for its sanction to borrow £15,100 for permanent roading and waterworks. If approval is obtained, the proposals will be submitted to the ratepayers aj two issues—one of roading and the other for waterworks extension. The roading proposals provide for the concreting of Titirangi Road 't an estimated cost to the borough of £3000 This work will link up with the Waitemata portion and connect with the Great North Road.
It is also proposed to concrete Todd' and Totara Avenues from the railway crossing, junctioning with the Great North Road on both sides of the TriangleReserve, the, cost of this Nvork being estimated at £3500. These thoroughfares are subject to heavy maintenance costs and annually incur an amount equal to interest charge and sinking' fun-] on the proposed loan. The council ha> no intention of increasing tlie. present rates to meet the loan charges on the proposed new works.
In regard to the proposed loan fo--water, a sum of "8600 is required Ij strengthen and extend.-> the present scheme (including the new Kelston area). This; work js very necessary in many parts of the borough in ' order that the sewerage system now in operation slioul'i properly function.
