TROUT FROM CALIFORNIA.

ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY'S BIG SHIPMENT. Within the next four months the Auckland Acclimatisation Society will receive from California nearly 100.000 eyed ova of the rainbow trout. The introduction of the species into our common stock should prove fairly conclusively whether migration is promoted by environment or heredity, thus immensely simplifying tho work of many acclimatisation societies of New Zealand. The •3ggs will be released half in hitherto streams and half in streams that are already well patronised for their fishing, where the stock will be greatly improved.
