OUT- OF LUCK.
DOMINION COUNCIL'S LOS 3.
£2000 THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN.
The wet weather yesterday and to-day came as a severe blow to the New Zealand Council who were relying on the third Test to put a good "clink" into their coffers.
Commenting on the situation this morning, Mr. E. T. Donnelly, chairman, said that the rain to-day meant a loss of probably £1000 to the council. Wet weather in Christchurch for the Saturday of the first Test had resulted in a similar loss, s6 that it might be said that the weather had cheated the council of at least f£ooo.
It was rumoured in tlie city this morning that the disorganisation of the match -would not be so greatsa financial loss as was generally imagined, as the council had taken the precaution of insuring the game against wet weather. The report was given denial by Mr. Donnelly who mentioned that, for one thing, the amount asked by the insurance companies had put the idea out of the question.
