KRISHNAMURTI'S CREED.
"NEW MESSIAH" ON HIS AIMS.
(In An Interview.)
"I set forth no principles of a universal religion, and I am opposed to all programmes of creed and ritual, for I contend that the human soul cannot always act according to a preconceived plan. When I go travelling I do not need a programme; I naturally know the goal I desire to reach. I know if I must take a boat or board a train to arrive at my destination. But these are merely material comparisons. "The teachings of the Order of the Star of the East have nothing to do with materialism in any shape or form. Our precepts concern the question of .whether one believes or not. Soul problems of a complex nature cannot be solved by the hard and fast rules that regulate dogma. "I am constantly being asked whether my order intends to proceed with their rumoured plans of starting a new colony in California on idealistic principles for the evolving of a superior race of human beings. I can say definitely that land has been purchased, in California for the purpose of providing headquarters . for the .order of the Star of the East, but beyond that no actual plans have been formulated. As for our organisation on a new basis contemplated in Holland, the same principles will govern its inauguration. "Every organisation, every work carried out according to plan is a constraint. I want freedom for all the world. It is absolutely indifferent to me how many men follow my orerd. All T care for is the depth of their conviction, and that their belief, whatever it is, should not be the result of predications or discourses, or any outside form of teaching. "Faith must come from within the individual himself. "My life is wholly and solely devoted to help manl:!:id."
