POPULAR ADJUTANT.
In consequence of a largely signed petition, circulated by men of the First Battalion, Auckland Regiment, requesting that the battalion adjutant retain his present position, Captain J. G. C. Wales will resume that position ' immediately after his return from duty in Western Samoa. Major-General R. Young, General Officer Commanding the Forces, considered the petition during his visit to Auckland, and gave . the ; necessary instructions.
