Fuller-Hay-ward had been offered free for advertising the Christmas seal scheme. The Minister said lie had accepted the offer, which-was made through Mr. Phil Hayward, of Auckland. Referring to the need for funds to fight tuberculosis and to alleviate the sufferings of patients, the Minister drew attention to the plight of young men and young women who, after a year or perhaps two years in a sanatorium, found it difficult "to return to the employment they were compelled to leave when they contracted the complaint. It frequently happened that after so long a period of enforced idleness the personal resources of the patients Avere exhausted, and in desperation they were forced into such unsuitable work as brought about a recurrence of the disease. Ultimately a return to a sanatorium was inevitable.

A number of sucli cases, said Mr. Stallworthy, had been brought under his notice, and he was aiming at organised relief by the development of the Christmas seal fund and the establishment of a National Anti-Tuberculosis Association, with branches at least in the larger centres. The Minister added that the special stamps would be on sale at aIJ post offices for several weeks yet.
