Robert Bray, aged 17,' had a close call with death in Raglan Harbour yesterday when a dinghy upset. •- He was in. the water over an hour and had a desperate struggle for life. He was fishing in the middle of the harbour when a strong gust caught his small sail-rigged craft and upset it. He clnng to the oars and managed to keep afloat in a choppy sea. It was with difficulty 'that ,ho avoided a strong current running down the channel out to sea. As it .was, he was carried by the tide, and it .was only after, a long struggle that lie succeeded in reaching the mainland near the bar. Bray's struggles were witnessed by a group of onlookers on the shore, who were powerless to assist him, as no boat was available. Frequently _he would disappear from sight for minutes at a time, but anxiety was relieved when he was seen clambering ashore. The dinghy was washed over the bar.
