THE CHRISTMAS MEETING. MOSTLY CONFINED TO LOCAL HORSES. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. The Taranaki Jockey Club's Christmas meeting is mostly confined to local horses, with one or two visitors from Auckland. Egmont running may have thrown some light on the various events. In the Huatoki Plate, Banbridge and Tentcall have the best form. Clever and Yalpre will be backed in the Borough Juvenile, but if Clever be reserved for a later engagement Orapai may show up. Royal Acre and Vivo stand out on Egmont hurdle form in the Rahotu Hurdles. In the Stewards' Hack, Clever, Just So, Peg, Black and Green Acre have the best form. Just :'o on better going than at Egmont should improve. Yoina and Orazone both ran at Egmont well enough to make them distinct possibilities in the Christmas Handicap, in which The Swell also should be prominent. The form of Pompeius in the Nolan Cup suggests that he will be hard to beat in the Atiawa Hack Cup. He carries weight well. Marjoram and Latakia look like proving his most troublesome opponents. Yalpre, Callapat and Anbridge have the best credentials of the hacks in the Tikorangi Stakes. Bon Eve and Araukuku showed pace at Haw-era, but those first-named look the likely ones. There is a small field in the Flying Handicap. R. Johnson's stable holds a strong hand with Ridgemount and Bonogne. and the elect of this pair should prove very troublesome.
