"r'■■']": News 'has been received in Auckland of the death of Mrs. Bihi Brown, -a Maori woman of high rank, and .'the wife of Mr. Ropi Brown, a prominent settler of Waitakaruru. Mrs. Brown who was very popular amongst both native and European people, came' to Auckland with her husband to attend the museum opening ceremonials in connection with ;" Hotumii". house.. : She had been in bad health, and had undergone, operations,:' but appeared to be quite well during he< visit. ... However, .on. her return she again took ill, .and died at the Thames Hospital.. She was about .41. years of age: .Mrs. Brown, was the daughter of chief Renata Te Kitahi, and therefore a granddaughter of Te Horeta Te Taniwha, an account of whose exploits as the Maori " Nelson" was published this,week. She was.a member of the Ngati-Whanaunga section of the Marutuahu" tribe of Hauraki. The tangi and interment 'took place at'Te Koumu, the family.' burial ■ ground at Coromandel. > • ' • ■'"."'< '■
