ACCOMMODATION ON WATERFRONT.
PLANS FOR NEW BUILDING. The plans for a new building in Quay Street to accommodate the waterside workers, stevedores, and customs were approved at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. The engineer reported that the part of the building west of the Northern wharf, including an archway to give access to the wharf, would cost £22,800, and the remainder. £52,700. With the cost of the foundations, the total expenditure would be £80,500. On the recommendation of the Works Committee the board decided to proceed with the western portion up to the archway this year, and to provide for the remainder in next year's estimates.
