ROTORUA ELECTORATE.
MR. CLINKARD'S WORK.
POST-SESSIONAL ADDRESS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
ROTORUA, Tuesday.
Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P. for Kotorua, and the Hon. W. A. Veitch addressed a public meeting last night. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, presided. Mr. Clinkard gave an account of his stewardship, and emphasised that the United party was not disunited and that its policy had been maintained, despite stonewalling by Reform. He defended his attitude in regard to the RotoruaTaupo railway.
Mr. Clinkard read a letter from Mr. H. H. Sterling, General Manager of Railways, referring to the works for unemployment relief at Papatoetoe, Papakura, Frankton and Huntly, apart from the Horotiu-Mercer duplication, and Huntly. He said £586,000 was being spent on rolling stock during the current year, and two complete trains of entirely new rolling stock would be provided for the Rotorua services, with the first observation cars to be run on any regular service in New Zealand. Mr. Veitch eulogised Mr. Clinkard's services.
A vote of thanks and confidence was accorded Mr. Clinkard.
