NOVEMBER RETURNS.

SEASON 4% PER CENT UP.

The director of the dairy division of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. W. M. Singleton, states that the figures of the division show that the salted butter eraded for November was 13,569 tons, and the unsalted 231 tons, a total of 13 800 tons, compared with 11,970 tons salted and 335 tons unsalted, a total of 12,305 tons, for November, i 928, an increase of 12.14 per cent. For the four months ended November the respective quantities were 33,440 tons and 541 tons, a total of 22,981 tons, compared with 30,368 tons and 646 tons, a total of 31,014 tons for the corresponding period of the preceding season, an increase of 9.56 per cent. The cheese graded for .November, 1929, comprised 8094 tons of white and 3940 tons coloured, a total of 11,989 tons, compared with 8293 tons white and 3867 tons coloured, a total of 12,160 tons for November, 1928, a decrease of 1.40 per cent. The quantities for the four months ended November, 1929, were 15,872 tons white and 8827 tons coloured, a total of 24,699 tons, compared with 17,878 tons white and 8452 tons coloured, a total of 26,330 tons for the corresponding period of the preceding season, a decrease of 6.19 per cent. Converting these figures into the butterfat equivalent there is an increase of 4.53 per cent in butterfat production for the four months, compared with the corresponding period of the 1928-29 season. Stocks held in the various grading ports at November 30 were:—Butter, 6158 tons, cheese 6888 tons, ' compared with 5229 tons butter and 6552 tons cheese held on November 30, 1928.
