Mr W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, leaves this evening by the express to attend a meeting of the Local Government Loans Board at Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Cooper (Gisborne), Mr. H. Patience, Mr. L. Allen. Mr. E. Kofoed, Mr. W. F. Ponder (Wellington), Mr. R. Brewis (Hamilton) are at the Central Hotel. Sir George Fowlda and Mr. T. U. 'Wells were yesterday reappointed representatives of the Auckland University on the council of the Massey Agricultural College. The Hon. H. H. Rushton, Colonial Treasurer, of Fiji, who has been most successful in conducting the finances of the colony during a difficult time, has accepted the position of ti'easurer ol Kenya at a much larger salary. He leaves Suva early in January. Guests at the Royal Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. G. Wansbone (Dargaville), Mr. and Mrs. A. Walker (Rotorua), Mr. W. S. Carter (Palmerston North), Mr. C. A. Capamagian (Hamilton), llr. B. Allen (Wellington), Mr. C. J. Walsh (Gisborne ), Mr. K. R. Hacket and Mr. Trevor Ross, of the reporting staff of the ,r New Zealand Herald," will leave for Wellington early in the New Year to join the literary staff of the "Dominion.'' Mr. Hacket will be chief reporter of the Wellington paper, and Mr. Ross will take up a senior position there.
