WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK

DENNESS—EASIOE. - The wedding was celebrated at Pitt Street Church on Saturday last at 3 p.m. of Ida May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Eastoe, Three Lamps, to Nelson John Preston, eldest son of Mrs. Denness, of Dominion Road. The Rev. W. Walker officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory crepe de chine and silver lace, the lace being arranged on the skirt in points. Her veil of embroidered tulle was held in place by real orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of St. Joseph lilies and roses. Her two bridesmaids were Misses Doris and Ivy Eastoe, who wore frocks of lemon and leaf green crepe de chine respectively. Their crinoline straw hats were to tone and they carried beautiful bouquets of delphinium blue and pale pink flowers. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Arthur Denness as best man, and Mr. Stephen Carr as groomsman. A reception was held at Point Erin Kiosk, where Mrs. Eastoe received her guests wearing a black and white ensemble and black and white hat. Mrs. Denness wore navy blue ring velvet and hat to tone. A dance was also held in the evening. YOUNG— GIESEN. A. pretty wedding was solemnised on Tuesday afternoon at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Rotorua, when Winifred Eileen, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Giesen, Hinemaru Street, Rotorua, was married to Eric Lancaster, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Young, of Orini, and late of Rotorua. Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton officiated. The church was beautifully decorated by girl friends with pink roses, Iceland poppies and orange blossom, while early Victorian posies of pink roses and gyspholia were placed at the end of each pew for the guests. A wedding bell of shaded pink roses was suspended from an arch of orange blossoms and roses. The service was fully choral and Miss M. Mactier, organist, presided at the organ. The 'bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Russel B. Giesen, wore a charming frock of shrimp pink georgette. The skirt was a mass of frills, edged with a darker shade of taffeta, and large hip bow. Her veil of embroidered pink tulle fell in graceful folds and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Nea Jervis, of Wellington, and Miss Jean Giesen, sister, of the bride, who wore dainty frocks of apple green georgette, with tight-fitting bodices and skirts falling in ankle-length points, with touches of gold, and wore green crinoline hats. Their 'bouquets were gold Iceland poppies and roses. The best man was Mr. Ronald Young, brother of the bridegroom. Mr. Clifford Giesen, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. After the ceremony the reception was held at Kia Ora, Mrs. Giesen receiving the guests in black georgette and lace and a black hat. She carried a posy of crimson roses and manuka. Mrs. Young, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of fawn marocain and black hat, and carried a posy of , Iceland poppies and bronze birch.

SMITH—QTIIN. The marriage was solemnised at St. Patrick's Church, Te Awamutu, on Saturday, "by Rev. Father Bleakley, of Hamilton, of Mies Maura Hughes Quin, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Quin, of "Islabank," Pirongia Eoad, Te Avvamutu, and Mr. Henry Knowles Smith, of the Bank of New Zealand staff, Te Awamutu. The service was fully choral, Miss Phyllis North officiating at the organ, 'while a special children's choir assisted. The church was artistically decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked winsome in a beautiful frock of ivory georgette, handsomely embroidered in pink and white beads in the Early Victorian style, with clusters of orange blossom worn at the side of the head, and an embroidered Brussels net veil to form the train. Miss Margaret M. Quin (the bride'e only eister) was bridesmaid, wearing a pink georgette, with three-tiered flared skirt, and picture crinoline : hat to tone. The bride carried a beautiful bouquet of blue and pink delphiniums and roses, while the bridesmaid's bouquet was of pale pink and pale blue sweet peas and roses. Mr. H. The marriage was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Papakura, on Wednesday afternoon, of Hilda Mona Bates, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bates, of Papakura, to Sric Lawrence Davis, younger sou of Mr. and Mrs. H. j 'W. Davis, Marne Road, Papakura. The Rev. W. J. Elliott officiated. Miss Hilda Beams presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, entered the church wearing a frock of ivory georgette trimmed, with lace and pink rosebuds, and a flared overskirt caught to one side with a diamante buckle. Her veil was held with a headdress of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaid, Miss Sylvia Bates, wore a pink rayon frock embroidered in silver, with a silver belt and hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink flowers. Miss Doris Cross, niece of the bride, and Miss Edna Blank, niece of the bridegroom, were the flower girls, each ■wearing little frilled frocks of pink crepe de chine trimmed with toned.

The bride was given away by her father, and wore a simple frock of hydrangea blue georgette, with a frilled cape collar. A large crinoline hat of the same colour had a. spray of pink flowers, and she carried a sheaf of carnafcious and rosea with tulle streamers.
