ROTORUA NOTES.

■Mr. and Mrs. W. Hill, Eangiuru Street, have returned from a holiday spent at Devonport. Mrs. E. T. Harris has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mr, and Mrs. H. C. Mellsop, Brents Bathgate House, are staying at Kawau Island. Mrs. Leggatt; of New Plymouth, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Moorehouse, Euera Street. Mrs. B. M. Wilson, who has been staying in Rotorua for some 'time, has returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Kane, of Wellington, are on a visit to Eotorua, and are guests at Waiwera House. They spent the week-end at National' Park. Miss Cherrie Driver, who has resided in Rotorua for some time, has left for her home in Auckland. Sifter K. Smith of the Sanatorium, has returned from a holiday spent in Dunedin and .. Queenstown. Mrs. T. McDowell, Euera Street, has returned from Auckland. Mrs. Grove and Miss Dora Grove, Fenton Street, who motored through to New Plymouth on a short holiday, have returned to Rotorua. Mrs. F. Thompson has returned from Auckland. Mrs. Sherriff, Fenton Street, and Mrs. Beale, Pukaki Street, motored through to Auckland on Friday on a shoj-t holiday. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. F. Heley are on a motor tour of the Hawke's Bay district, and will also visit the Tongariro National Park. Mr. and Mrs. J. Nixon, of Ponsonby, are the guests of Mrs. W. D. Young, Pukaki Street. Mrs. Dignan and Miss Dignan, who have been staying at Brent's Bathgate House, have returned to Auckland. Guests staying at Waiwera House, Rotorua, include: The Hon. W. 'B. Taverner and Mrs. Taverner, Mr. Flowers, Mrs. Montgomery, Miss Montgomery, Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Perritt, of Wellington; Mrs. Foster, Miss Jean Macindoe, Mrs. Horrockg, Miss E. Young, Miss Fallon, of Auckland; Dr. Shand, Mr. Shand, Mr. Cheyne, Mr. Pannell, of j Dunedin; Mr. and Mrs. Smith, of Sydney; 'Mr. and Mrs. Kane, of Wellington. A house warming was given by Mr. and Mrs. George Steele at their newresidence, Union Street. The reception rooinß were arranged with shaded Iceland poppies. Mr. Steele wore a handsome frock of black satin with sequin trimming. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. L. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. S. Hale, Miss Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Richards, Mrs. Hollay (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. J. Ewen, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Allen, Miss Bennett, Miss Bailey, Mr. Tinkler. The Rotorua Girls' League gave a dance on Thursday evening at the Tea Kiosk, Government Gardens. The decorations were red and white azaleas, and the music was supplied by the panotrope. The prizes for the spot dance were won by Miss P. Wallace and Mr. Don Hinton, the Monte Carlos by Miss B. Dorset and Mr. W. Young, Miss V. Steele and Miss V. Thompson. The guests were: Mrs. Shalfoon, Misses V. Thompson, J. Gilbertson, D. Davies, M. Snell, W. Apps, 3. Newmarch, B. Vaughan, P. Wallace, I. Wright, Q. Mau B. Dorset, V. Steele, I. Wright. A bazaar in connection with St. Luke's Anglican Church, Rotorua, was> held on Wednesday in St. Luke's Parish Hall. Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton formally declared the bazaar open. Musical selections were given in the evening by the Arawa Symphony Orchestra. The stallholders were:—Sweets: Mesdames A. Clarke and Brown, Miss Newsom. Tea rooms: Mesdames Pakes, D. Steele, H. H. Davis. Cut flowers: Mesdames F. C. Bunyard and Hesketh. Mesdames W. L. Richards and Hogan. Neddiework: Mesdames W. W. P. Hall, Grove, Mewburn, C. Hitchcock. Produce: Mesdames Butt, Lea, Nelson. Miscellaneous: Mesdames J. Halkett, and Newsom. Close on £100 will be realised as the result of the bazaar.
