CIRCUS RIDER FINED.

CRUELTY TO "OUTLAW" HOKSE

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent,} CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday.

A showman and rider of one of the buck-jumpers at the recent Christchurch Show, Roy Goldie, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with cruelty to a horse by the excessive use of spurs. Although the horses at the sideshow were advertised as "outlaws of the world," the inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and counsel for the prosecution both said the horses were very quiet and could be ridden without a saddle by almost anybody. Blood had been drawn from the horse mentioned in the charge by repeated use of the spurs and the animal obviously suffered great pain.

Accused was fined £3 and costs
