TIMARU CONVENT.

JUBILEE CELEBRATION. ARCHBISHOP ATTENDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Wednesday. A civic reception was to-day accorded to Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington, Bishop Brodie, of Christchurch, Bishop Wliyte, of Dunedin, and the other Roman Catholic clergy who are visiting Timaru in connection with the golden jubilee of the Convent of the Sacred Heart. There was a very large attendance of the public.

The occasion was the more interesting in that Archbishop Redwood, who is the senior Roman Catholic bishop of the world, laid the foundation stone of the convent on February 1, 1880. In the evening the parishioners presented Father Peoples with an illuminated address on the occasion of the silver jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood.
