SURPLUS NATIVE LAND.

The Minister for Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata, has addressed meetings of natives at Omarumutu, Torere and Maraenui, explaining to them his plans for the consolidation of native lands. He has advised at all the meetings that natives should sell all their unwanted land to the Government at the Government valuation. If this is done, and the Government is willing to buy, the Minister will make a deal with the Opotiki County Council and pay up back rates.
