CASES FOR N.Z. FRUIT.

The Industries and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives recently conducted an inquiry into the difficulties which affect the marketm fruit in New Zealand-made cases, and it was directed to inquire into the reasons for the preference now accorded to cases made from imported timber and-to report on " the best means of ensuring the use of local timber in future. . The committee's report, received by the House, states' that it considered 1 desirable that steps should be taken durin" the recess to ensure that fruit cases should be wholly manufactured m the Dominion, and that the Minister of Industries and Commerce be requested convene a conference of fruitgrowers, sawmillers and other interested parties, to formulate a scheme for consideration by Parliament next session.
