STAFF INSURANCE SOCIETY,
The annual meeting of the John Court, Ltd., Staff Insurance and Benevolent Society was held last evening, Mr. H. J. Court presiding over a large attendance The chairman apologised for the absence of Mr. John Court, sen., and Mr. A. H. Court. The chairman congratulated the staff on tile past year's achievements, which had resulted in an increased turnover and a considerable improvement in the business. Another result had been apparent in the increased bonus allotment to the staff, which had amounted to just under £0000. With long-service bonuses of £2000, the total was nearly £8000, while interest paid into the staff's bonus account, amounted to approximately £4000, bringing that account to the very creditable total of £34,000. The firm's subsidy to the J.C.L. Insurance and Benevolent Society amounted to £1072, to the library account £85. to the sports' account £227. and donations to various charities totalled £1000. It was decided to hold the annual j picnic on March 1. a steamer having been' engaged by the firm for that date. A welcome was extended to Miss IT. Hurley, who has recently returned from a two years' buying trip abroad. Enjoyable musical items were given j during the evening.
