TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR WINNERS.
Pupils of the Takapuna Grammar School held their first annual boxing tournament at the Green Mill last evening. Some interesting bouts were decided, and the boys were complimented on their display by the referee (Mr. G. Bush). The medal for the most scientific boxer at the tourney was awarded to Hurren. Results: —
Heavy-weiglit.—Final : Stevenson beat Lcggett. The former forced the pace to win a splendid fight by a small margin. Middle-weight.—Semi-final: Kidd beat Newell. Final : Kidd beat Buckley. Boys were practically out on their feet at the final gong. Light-weight.—Final: Sidford beat McIndoe after a fast bout. Feather-weight.—Semi-finals: Adams beat Stevens; Gurr beat Waters. Final: Gurr bent Adams. Bantam-weight.—Semi-finals: Kissen beat Yarn ton ; MeCleiiaghan beat Martin. Final: Kissen beat McClenaghan. Paper-weight.—Semi-final: Hurren beat Jackson. Final: Hurren beat Murtagh. 'Midget-weight.—Final: Hurren beat Raikes. Special Weight, under fist 71b.—Hillier beat Ormiston. The latter fought gamely but was outclassed.
