CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB,
An all-day shoot was held by the Metropolitan Gun Club on Labour Day. There was a large attendance of shooters and visitors, and some excellent shooting was done. The first match was for the -Mui - rell Cup, which is to become the property of the winner. The winner was L. F. Ramsey (12yds), who shot seven- birds.
In No. 2, 7-birds sweepstake, D. Stoupe (12yds), D. Hyauiason (13j'ds), TV. H. Hazard (15yds), and W Macredie (12yds) tied with the possible and divided the stake.
For the No. 3 ladies' trophy, of 10 birds ; each man had to shoot for a lady; there were 23 competitors. L. F. Ramsey (13yds), Miss Ramsey; F. Keene (14yds), Mrs. Hargraves; C. E. Hodge (lSyds), Mrs J. C. Whitney; H. E. Knight (14yds), Mrs. R. H. Bartley; and W. Turner (16yds), Mra. Campbell; all tied with the possible. In the shoot-off L Ramsey won on the 19th bird.
No. 4 shoot of 15 birds for Mr. F. Keene's trophy resulted in a straight-out win for G. H. Brown (16yds), with the possible. L. F. Ramsey (13yds) and D. Hyauiason (14yds) tied for second place with 14 each.
No. 5 shoot was for a ladies' trophy, presented by Master P. Bartley. G. H. Brown (16yds), Mrs. Bettany, and J. C. Whitney (12yds), Mrs. A. M. Bartley, each shot the possible. In the shoot-off Brown won. No 6 shoot of 21 birds, for Mr E. N. Barratt's trophy resulted : C. G. Hodge (19yds), 21 birds, 1; W. 11. Hazard (15yds) and J. C. Whitney (12yds), 1!) each, 2. Mr. Hodge generously gave the trophy back to be shot off between the two second men, when W. H Hazard won.
No. 7 gimcrack, of seven birds, was won by D. Stoupe (24yds).
