GRAVE OFFENCE.
ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY,
The story of a trap set for boys was related in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon, when Alfred Carter, a labourer, aged 29 (Mr. Noble) was charged with indecent assault oil a boy aged 14 years and 11 months.
For the prosecution, Mr. V. N. Hubble stated that accused advertiser} for a boy or youth for city work, and offered wages of £1 and keep. About 12 boys answered the advertisement. The accused took the address of the boy in the case, and afterwards telegraphed to him to meet him. He persuaded the boy to etay all night with him at his lodgings.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and Mr. Justice Smith remanded him for sentence till Saturday morning.
