CASE FROM COROMANDEL.

ACCUITTAL OF ACCUSED.

In the Supreme Court Darcy Lewis Goodman, aged 26, was charged with committing offences against a Maori girl, aged 13 years and 10 months, on July 20, at Tairua, on the Coromandel Peninsula. The charges v all referred to one incident, and were preferred in four alternative counts of attempting to commit rape, attempted unlawful knowledge, indecent assault and assault.

Mr. V. X. Hubble appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. Noble for accused.

After a brief retirement a verdict of not guilty was returned by the jury. Prisoner was accordingly discharged by Mr. Justice Smith.
