JUMP FROM TRAIN.
KUMEU RESIDENT KILLED
TERRIBLE INJURIES SUSTAINED.
An elderly resident of Kunieu. Mr. R. Bradley, jumped off the WhangareiAuckland train Inst night at about halfpast ten, before it had pulled up at the Kumeu station, and died from the effects of injuries received when he fell under the wheels From what was stated by a bystander, the deceased opened the carriage platform gate, and, facing the rear of the train, jumped off. He was thrown off his balance, and fell between the carriage he jumped off and the guard's van. He was terribly injured, although the train was very near to stopping when he left the carriage platform. The injured man was got off the track, but only with much difficulty, so terribly was he mangled by the wheels, and Dr. Harris, of Kumeu, was called, but nothing could save the unfortunate man, and he died very soon after. Deceased had been living at Kumeu for about a venr with his sou, Mr. Peter Bradley, blacksmith. The train was delayed about an hour and a half owing to the fatality. An inquest is to be held.
